NAVIGATION AND INSTRUMENTS
Even though we want to keep every thing as simple as possible,
when it comes to navigation and instrumentation its not so easy.
We bought Thyra from a Dutch guy who made a lot of upgrading to her
after many years sailing for ASV In Berlin. But obviously he never got to renew the navigation.
This meant that it was easy for us to pull out the old 7,5 kg PC with 3,5″ floppydisk, pactor modem, VHF without DSC, Navtex, and some other useless stuff… On a new backplate I could now build a nav-area, nice and simple and only with the instrumentation I needed.
Almost all units are B&G and connected via NEMA2000.
Instruments in the nav-station:
V90S VHF Radio.
H50 Wireless handset
Zeus3 9″ Chartplotter
Speaker
AIS
B&G NAC-3 Autopilotcomputer
B&G Ram T3 – Hydraulic driveunit
B&G Triton2 controller
Icom SSB Radio
Batterimonitor
Victron Charger/Inverter remote
Safety and comfort on board
I like this headline as safety and comfort a long way is very close connected.
Let me start to comment on the ships safety equipment and then I will be talking
about the equipment that adds to our comfort, and as a matter of this, also to our safety.
Because S/Y Thyra is a commercial sailing vessel
approved to carry up to 12 passangers a lot of safety regulations has to be followed.
SICHERHEIT AN BORD
Some of the following things might seem a bit overkill, but that is the reason.
This is what we got:
SOLAS “B” approved Viking liferaft 16 persons
2 SOLAS approved lifering, one with light, one with line
6 SOLAS approved Baltic inflatable lifevests
3 SOLAS approved Viking inflatable lifevests for kids
Emergency power for radio and navigational lights
MOB brace
Sufficient amount of pyroteknik
AIS-SART
EPIRB
Lifelines from cockpit to front
Hookingpoints for lifelines I cockpitt
Max Power rejectable bow truster
Ebersprecher D5 heater
3,4 m Humber RIB
9,9 HP Mercury outboard – Will be updated to Yamaha 25 HP
Every boat comes with standard safety equipment.
