The south-easterly Indian Ocean tradewinds make May to October ideal for a sailing holiday in Seychelles, when the seas are at their calmest. Moderate wave heights of a meter or so are common within Inner Seychelles. Outer Seychelles are generally too choppy to allow for private sailing. Air temperatures up to about 30°C are common throughout the year with water temperatures in spring and early summer averaging about the same.

- Staying within the Inner Seychelles still leaves you a lot to explore, and you can be confident that the area is well mapped and provides excellent opportunities for mooring or anchorage.
- The largest rocks around these areas are generally easily visible to the eye, but do watch out as they are often not marked with buoys or lights.
