    About Ibiza

Nestled in between the breathtaking coasts of Spain and Italy, in the Balearic Sea, lies one of the worlds best destinations for sailing vacations. And it’s just waiting for you to arrive. Our Ibiza travel guide will bring you one step closer to your dream sailing holiday in Ibiza.

Ibiza is one of the five Balearic Islands off the western coast of Spain and is best known for its bars, clubs and parties. But what excites us most about this destination is the idea of drifting along the still Mediterranean water and listening to the wind in your sails as the sun beams down from the blue sky above.

Amidst its stunning natural beauty and white sandy beaches, Ibiza holds a wealth of boating options for your next sailing holiday. Chartering your own yacht, catamaran or powerboat – and savouring the freedom and privacy that comes with it – is the most ideal and authentic way to experience this island heaven.

    Highlights

From October through to April, the pace of life in Ibiza is naturally slow, but come May and June each year some 3 million visitors flock to this island paradise. The island’s main centre, known as Ibiza Town (though it is actually a city), lies on the south-eastern coast and is a charismatic area full of chic boutiques, fancy bars and an inviting marina lined with yachts and high-end cuisine. The locals are friendly and hospitable towards the herds of eccentric visitors, and Ibiza has a wealth of excellent cafes and restaurants, but be sure to avoid the tourist traps. And don't forget to try two local specialities: ‘ensaimada’, a sort of flat, soft pastry coil, and ‘flao’, a sweet cheese and mint flan.

Ibiza has some of the world’s largest nightclubs. The West End, near San Antonio centre, is a long, wide street packed with bars and revellers, where you’ll find Europe’s top DJs and celebrities during the summer. But Ibiza is much more than just a clubber’s paradise. Be sure to take some time away from the clubs and explore some of the stunning traditional countryside that few visitors take the time to enjoy. Ibiza’s unique location, climate and natural features make it an action-packed paradise. From hiking to fishing and cycling to deep-sea diving, Ibiza’s stunning environment will leave you with plenty to do.

Ibiza also has a rich history and there are some fascinating sites you should check out while you’re there. The Castle of Ibiza overlooks Ibiza Town and its glistening harbour from an awesome hilltop location within the Dalt Vila historical quarter. The Baluard de Sant Jaume is also located in this area and is one of the oldest military bastions in the Balearic Islands.

By day, navigate through hidden inlets and secluded beaches, stop for a picnic lunch and a mojito or two, and afterwards, take a dive from your own private boat into the crystal clear sea below. By night, pull into one of Ibiza’s five marinas and head to the bars, or take anchorage in one of the many well-sheltered coves as the famous orange sun falls over the horizon.

This sun-soaked celebrity hangout has spectacular beaches, a bustling nightlife and an infinite number of activities to enjoy, making Ibiza a must-see destination on your next sailing holiday around Spain.
